Hi!

Jennifer was a local Suzuki student who studied with Mary Frances Boyce. These concerts should be exciting!

J Quartet

Jennifer Curtis and Jessica Lee, violins; Jisoo Ok, cello; and Joy Fellows, viola

This vibrant young string quartet was formed a year ago at The Juilliard School in New York, where they have been coached by a variety of legendary music personalitys including Robert Mann of the Juilliard String Quartet, members of the Tokyo and Mendelsshon Quartets, as well as Itzahk Perlman.

From North Carolina, Oklahoma, Korea and New Zealand, the J Quartet perform everything from standards such as Haydn or Beethoven to French contemporary music, as well as orginal works for mandolin and string trio by Jennifer Curtis. This month they will spend a week performing in the Triangle area, in schools, nursing homes and concert halls, while raising money not only to support themselves while pursuing graduate studies at Juilliard, but also in an effort to help the Ai Kwang Won School for the mentally and physically disabled in Koje-do, Korea.

Triangle area performances are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday 12-17, 7:30pm at Carol Woods (968-4511),
  • Friday 12/19, 7:30pm, at Carolina Friends School (929-1800),
  • Saturday 12/20, 4pm, Billy Royal's House (for those that know him)
  • Saturday 12/20, 8pm at The Forest at Duke (419-4021),
  • Sunday 12/21, 4pm at Hill Hall of UNC-CH. (919 549 4935)

For some of these recitals the J quartet will be joined by a very special pianist, Kimball Gallager, also from Juilliard. Please contact jquartet@yahoo.com or call 917-549-4935 for more information or booking.
